During the past months of lockdown, the team has continued to work on developing the boat and, thanks to electric motors installed on the AC75, sea trials could be carried out on the water to test certain components.

Gilberto Nobili, Operations Manager for the team explains: “Public health provisions placed limitations on us, including social distancing and the use of personal protective equipment. Our grinders would normally work in pairs on each station, one facing the other, so they couldn’t have maintained a safe distance. 

We therefore installed two electric engines with batteries to fuel all the boat’s systems, replacing the work of the grinders. This allowed us to reduce the crew on board from eleven to five while simulating fairly realistic navigation.”
