Porto Cervo, July 24th
2016 - Everything is ready in Palma de Mallorca for the third event of
the 52 Super Series: after the series held in Scarlino and Porto Cervo,
both won by Quantum Racing, the TP52 fleet is now moored in the Puerto
Portals Marina. On the starting line will be ten teams: compared with
the previous event the fleet will miss French entry Paprec Recyclage and
British entry Sorcha, that made its debut in Sardinia.
Ready for the action is
also the bearer hull of the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club, Bronenosec
Gazprom. After the satisfactory start in Scarlino, and the empty passage
in Porto Cervo, the Vladimir Liubomirov's crew is looking for a
re-launch in a context, the bay of Palma, earned the team's best overall
result of the season: the third place finish at the Palma Vela.
"We have yet to
start, but in the previous training days the crew was toned, relaxed and
focused on the need to have some re-launch: feeling are good and there
is optimism. Regarding the race course, you can bet on that Palma will
confirm itself as... Palma: actually we expect to have some good
Southerly sea breeze and we are ready to sail in the mid-bay area, where
it's all the time a challenge to play with the wind shifts and puffs.
It seems needless to say that the conditions will be the same for all
the teams, so it will be important to keep the maximum concentration and
may the best win" explained the Bronenosec Sailing Team navigator Francesco Mongelli.
The Puerto Portals
Sailing Week will start tomorrow morning and will end on Friday. The
event will count on a ten races series, with no discard allowed. Today
the fleet will sail the official practice race and the crews will end
the day by taking part at the Welcome Cocktail.
In
Puerto Portals, Bronenosec Gazprom will be sailed by Vladimir
Liubomirov (owner-driver), Michele Ivaldi (skipper-tactician), Adrian
Stead (strategist), Francesco Mongelli (navigator), Victor Serezhkin
(backstay), Paul Westlake (mainsail trimmer), Claudio Celon (trimmer),
Zack Hurst (trimmer), Emanuele Marino (grinder), Pietro Mantovani
(grinder), Andy Fethers (pitman), Alex Kulakov (floater), Michele
