Abbiamo appena concluso la seconda tappa di avvicinamento a Dakar. La meta da raggiungere era Las Palmas, isole Canarie, ma purtroppo, usciti da Gibilterra, a 100 miglia dallo stretto abbiamo dovuto abbandonare l'idea a causa di un avaria al timone destro. Abbiamo quindi dovuto fare dietro-front e puntare le prue sul Marina de Isla Canela, in Spagna, al confine con il Portogallo.
Siamo comunque molto contenti. La navigazione è stata caratterizzata da momenti con condizioni meteo-marine anche impegnative, che abbiamo superato egregiamente. Abbiamo potuto fare il punto sulla preparazione del catamarano, evidenziando alcuni problemi ancora da risolvere. Si conferma fondamentale l'avvicinamento a Dakar via mare e quanto sia importante come allenamento. Cominciamo a conoscere il mezzo, e ne vediamo i progressi. Tra quanto ha funzionato in maniera impeccabile, sicuramente da sottolineare la comunicazione con lo staff di terra, che ci ha saputi guidare-assistere-sorvegliare in ogni momento! Nous venons de terminer la deuxième étape d'approche à Dakar. Le but était de rejoindre Las Palmas, aux îles Canaries, mais malheureusement, 100 milles ouest après avoir franchit le Détroit de Gibraltar, nous avons dû abandonner l'idée à cause du gouvernail de droite cassé. Nous avons fait demi-tour en dirigeant les proues sur Marina de Isla Canela, en Espagne, à la frontière avec le Portugal.
Cependant nous sommes très heureux. La navigation a été marquée par des moments avec des conditions climatiques et de mer très exigeantes, que nous avons bien maitrisées. Nous avons pu faire le point sur la préparation du catamaran, mettant en évidence quelques-uns des problèmes qui restent à résoudre. Cela confirme l'importance fondamentale de l'approche à Dakar par mer et l'importance de l'entrainement. Nous commençons à connaître le catamaran, et nous en constatons les progrès. Entre ce qui a fonctionné à merveille, certainement à souligner la collaboration avec l'équipe à terre qui a été capable de nous conduire-soutenir-surveiller à tout moment! Dear friends and supporters, we have just completed the second stage of our approach to Dakar. The goal was to reach Las Palmas, Canary Islands, but unfortunately came out from Gibraltar, 100 miles west from the Strait, we had to to change the idea due to failure of the right rudder and we musted point the praws in the direction of the Marina de Isla Canela, in Spain, on the border with Portugal. But we are still very happy. The navigation was by moments with demanding sea and difficult weather conditions, that we have managed very well. We have been able to test the preparedness of the catamaran, highlighting some problems still to be resolved. It's confirmed the importance of this approach by sea to Dakar. A really training. We begin to know the boat and see his progress. Very good communication with the ground staff, anytime with us: tactical support, assistance, survey.
