Giunge al termine una settimana di grande vela alla Marina di Scarlino, che ha visto i più celebri velisti d'Europa darsi battaglia per conquistare la prima tappa dell'ambito circuito The Nations Trophy. Con 23 team in gara, in rappresentanza di dieci nazioni, suddivisi tra le due classi più performanti del cantiere finlandese, il Golfo di Follonica si è colorato da martedì a sabato, vedendo la disputa di ben undici prove.
Le condizioni meteo sono state straordinariamente favorevoli e hanno permesso al Comitato di Regata, diretto da Ariane Mainemare e Carlo Giuliano Tosi di seguire una serrata tabella di marcia, permettendo quindi ai valori in gara di emergere.
La battaglia per la leadership è stata assai dura in entrambe le flotte, e ha visto svelarsi i nomi dei vincitori dell'evento solo con l'ultima prova.
Dopo lunga battaglia, tra i ClubSwan 50 ha vinto il team di Cuordileone, capitanato da Leonardo Ferragamo, con alla tattica Manu Weiller. Piazza d'onore per il campione del mondo in carica, Marcus Brennecke (Markus Wieser alla tattica). Al terzo posto, in progressione durante la settimana, il team dello sivizzero Stefan Heidenreich, ONEGroup, che ha schierato alla tattica il pluri-medagliato Jochen Schuemann.
La suspance non è mancata nei ClubSwan 36, dove si sono dati battaglia Gspot, del monegasco Giangi Serena di Lapigio e il toscano Andrea Lacorte (a bordo di Vitamina). Il team di Vitamina ha avutola meglio, mentre sul gradino più basso del podio il team di Far Star, di recente approdati al ClubSwan 36, dopo aver lasciato il ClubSwan 42.
Equipaggio da marcare stretto per i futuri eventi, l'esordiente Fra Martina, che dopo aver toccato l'acqua per la prima volta sabato 22 maggio, ha riportato ben tre primi parziali. I fratelli Edoardo e Vanni Pavesio, reduci da esperienze su diversi monotipi, schierano alla tattica Checco Bruni e alla randa Rufo Bressani.
La manifestazione sportiva è stata organizzata dallo Yacht Club Isole di Toscana, con il supporto di ClubSwan Racing, della Marina di Scarlino e di Nautor's Swan Global Service Scarlino.

A week of great sailing comes to an end at the Marina di Scarlino, which saw the most famous sailors in Europe battle it out to conquer the first stage of the coveted The Nations Trophy circuit. With 23 teams competing, representing ten nations, divided between the two best performing classes of the Finnish shipyard, the Gulf of Follonica was colored from Tuesday to Saturday, seeing the dispute of eleven races. The weather conditions were extraordinarily favorable and allowed the Race Committee, directed by Ariane Mainemare and Carlo Giuliano Tosi to follow a tight schedule, thus allowing the values in the race to emerge. The battle for leadership was very tough in both fleets, with the names of the event's winners being revealed only with the last downwind. After a long battle, the Cuordileone team, led by Leonardo Ferragamo, with Manu Weiller as tactician, won among the ClubSwan 50s. Place of honor for the reigning world champion, Marcus Brennecke (Markus Wieser calling tactics). In third place, in progression during the week, the team of the Swiss Stefan Heidenreich, ONEGroup, who fielded the multi-medalist Jochen Schuemann at the tactics.
