US Sailing - The Quarterdeck: Special Announcement

Together we are facing unprecedented challenges. The global crisis has altered the ways we interact with every facet of our daily lives in ways that were previously unimaginable. The path ahead holds many unforeseen challenges, but we will continue to work together to strengthen our community for better days ahead.
In early February, I was asked by US Sailing to keep track of the health crisis in China and develop a plan to adjust our operations. Since that time, we have all become part of the evolution of this global crisis.

We are working hard to find new ways to accomplish our goals despite the awful situation at hand. We got our athletes back safely from Italy and Spain, we have modified our operations to work from alternative locations, and we are working at a breakneck speed to revamp the way we deliver the courses that are needed to train the people that run your programs.

I have been involved at the International, National, Local, State and local levels to protect our people and assess what resources are out there for accurate information and effective, innovative ideas to face the challenges ahead.

I have created a curated webpage of materials I believe are worthwhile and trustworthy resources that I hope our valued organizations may find of use. Many of these come from our friends in other national governing bodies, who are experiencing the same challenges.

If you have helpful information you would like to share, please send it to me directly. I can assure you I will read it and share with other members organizations as appropriate. Our toolkit will be evolving as the situation progresses, so please continue to check back for new resources. Thank you for being a part of our community.

Best,

Mike Waters
Chief Technology Officer, US Sailing
