Each year on February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or
flowers with their special "valentine." The day of romance we call Valentine's
Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has
origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia. Onboard Team SCA we celebrate the
occasion from dusk to dawn.
The boat is for the moment running like a machine
and it feels like we could continue sailing like this forever. But don´t forget
there is a group of fine women behind every knot we are making with their
family, friends and loved ones miles away. A day like this should not pass by
without notice. And it didn't. Mother earth delivered another beautiful day on
the water with wind, big waves, fun surfs and sunshine. A seagull made a special
delivery of Whittaker's chocolate as a taste of what´s waiting for us in Kiwi
land and Mr. Postman delivered a whole bunch of Valentines cards to each and
everyone one of the ladies in the crew. It made our day, thank you so much!
In terms of sailing we are happy where we are. The northerly route seems to
progress as we were hoping for. We are pretty much sorted where we are heading.
In theory, according to routing and various calculations, we will gain and be
with the main group down south in a few days from now. Obviously a lot can
happen from now and nothing is for sure in offshore racing. Our main focus right
now is to keep an eye on Brunel and try to close the gap between us.
