Luna Rossa ha sfidato per l’ultima volta ETNZ nelle finali della LVCup - Luna Rossa faced for the last time ETZN in the LVCup Finals

Domenica 25 agosto, San Francisco: Oggi Luna Rossa Challenge ha sfidato per l’ultima volta Emirates Team New Zealand nell’ottava prova delle finali della Louis Vuitton Cup. I neozelandesi si sono portati sul 7-1 guadagnando l’accesso all’America’s Cup contro il Defender Oracle Team USA. Luna Rossa ha lanciato la sfida alla 34^ America’s Cup il 2 novembre 2011. Ha varato l’AC72 il 26 ottobre 2012  che ha navigato per la prima volta in Nuova Zealand il 2 novembre 2012. Dopo meno di un anno Luna Rossa Challenge ha affrontato i suoi avversari, vincendo le semifinali e conquistando l’accesso alla finale della Louis Vuitton Cup, la terza finale in quattro campagne di America’s Cup per Luna Rossa.

Max Sirena ha dichiarato: “In un anno e mezzo siamo riusciti a mettere in piedi un team giovane e competitivo che, con una sola barca di prima generazione, ha raggiunto la finale della Louis Vuitton Cup. Nonostante Luna Rossa abbia fatto grandi progressi in tutti questi mesi, e anche nelle ultime settimane, non è stato sufficiente; con 4 mesi in più di sviluppo avremmo potuto essere competitivi. Ringrazio tutto il team ed il pubblico che ci ha supportato. Complimenti a Emirates Team New Zealand per la meritata vittoria e un caloroso ‘In bocca al lupo’ per l’America’s Cup.”

 

 

Sunday August 25^th, San Francisco: Today Luna Rossa Challenge faced for the last time Emirates Team New Zealand in the eighth race of the Louis Vuitton Cup Finals. The New Zealanders scored the seventh point required to gain the access to the America’s Cup against the Defender Oracle Team USA. Luna Rossa Challenge launched its challenge for the 34th America’s Cup on November 2nd 2011. The AC72 was launched on October 26th 2012 and the boat sailed for the first time in New Zealand on November 2^nd 2012. Less than one year later Luna Rossa Challenge was racing against her opponents and won the semi-finals, thus gaining access to the Louis Vuitton Cup Finals; it was the third final for Luna Rossa out of four America’s Cup campaigns.

 

 Max Sirena declared: "In one year and a half we built a young and competitive team that, with only one boat designed on a first generation project, advanced to the Louis Vuitton finals. Even if we made huge improvements during the last few months and weeks, this was not sufficient; if we had four more months to develop the boat we would have been more competitive. I want to thank every single team member and all of our fans. Congratulations to Emirates Team New Zealand for the deserved victory and we wish them the best luck for the America’s Cup.”
