Olympic Sailing News - 9 August 2016

The big guys get underway.    Day two saw the heavyweights in action at Rio 2016 as the Finns joined the Lasers and RS:X sailors out on the waters of Guanabara Bay.    There was an old hand in the Finn who took advantage of his favourite conditions while the other fleets began to take some shape with the discards coming in to play. The usual suspects are beginning to move up the leaderboard, especially in the Laser Radial where the pre-event favourites are circling the top positions.

Day three will see the One-Person Dinghies continue racing, but the RS:X will enjoy a rest day as the Nacra 17 and the Men’s and Women’s 470 join the Olympic Sailing Competition and get their hunt for medals underway.
