MELGES 32 - Mascalzone Latino Strikes Back

Porto Venere, Italy - The cream of the crop rose to the top in Porto Venere at the first act of the 2016 Melges 32 European Sailing Series. Day Two concluded with three more races, and Vincenzo Onorato aboard Mascalzone Latino and Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio on G-SPOT finishing the day in first and second respectively with equal points. Onorato won the points tiebreaker, a huge performance improvement in comparison to Day One.

Onorato redeemed himself fresh out of the gate winning Race Four. Mascalzone Latino tactician Cameron Appleton commented post-racing, "Everyone told me that typically, the breeze is quite light in Porto Venere. We've sailed six tough races over the last two days, so we're happy to be first overall. Today was pretty difficult as the shifty breeze did not make it very easy."
Richard Goransson's Inga From Sweden got back on track as well winning Race Five, ahead of Ahmet Eker on Eker finishing second and Serena di Lapigio in third. Russia's Valentin Zavadnikov on Synergy earned his piece of the pie today winning Race Six. Onorato's second place finish put him where he needed to be in the points race overall. Eker had another great race to claim third.
Sunday marks the final day of racing in Porto Ercole. Two final races are scheduled.
