Andrea Mura and Riccardo Apolloni sailed Vento Di Sardegna across the finish line at Newport RI at 23:47: GMT on 16th June 2012 completing the transatlantic crossing from Plymouth in 13 days 12 hours and 47 minutes at an average velocity made good of 8.6 knots. As well as the line honours victory, they also take the monohull race record and the race record for a yacht 50 foot or less. They are also likely to win on Handicap. They were met on the line By Norm Bailey, the International Liaison Officer and past Commodore of the Newport Yacht Club, together with other representatives of the Newport Yacht Club. Roaring Forty 2 is expected to finish in approximately 12 hours time.
