Melges 32s Prepare For Action In Porto Ercole

Porto Ercole, Italy - Less than a month after its opening session in Porto Venere, the Sailing Series® will host round two in Porto Ercole this weekend.   In years past, Porto Ercole has been one of the Melges 32s favorite racing venues. In the shadow of Monte Argentario, the fleet is set to steal the show with eleven, top-performance teams on the starting line.

Top teams in attendance include Porto Venere Champion Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio on G-SPOT along with runners-up Achille Onorato at the helm of Mascalzone Latino and Ahmet Eker on Eker. Check out this very cool Eker Interview.
Accelerating fast into the upper-realm of competitors is Richard Goransson's Inga From Sweden, and the dashing Matteo Balestrero aboard La Spezia Sailing Team/Giogi poised to grab a podium position.
Racing for the first time in Europe this 2016 season are Christian Schwoerer and Veit Hemmeter, co-owners of the awesome La Pericolosa! Aboard are Polish all-star and former World Match Racing Champion tactician Karol Jablonski, as well as crew members Andrea Racchelli, Gaetano Figlia di Granara and Michele Gregoratto.
Great things are expected from Fritz Homann helming Wilma, and newbie from Norway - Lasse Petterson aboard Pippa. Pettersen celebrated a stellar last race in Porto Venere which afforded him a Pippa Interview allowing us a chance to get to know this aspiring team better.
All eyes will be on Andrea LaCorte's Vitamina as he approaches the event with some new team members including decorated Italian tactician Gabriele Benussi.
And last, but certainly not least are two phenomenal teams from Russia - Valentin Zavadnikov's Synergy GT and Pavel Kutznetsov's Tavatuy. Both of these splendid teams are on the best-to-watch list as Kutznetsov did well in the early game at Porto Venere, Zavadnikov on the other hand is a former (2014) Sailing Series Champion.
Racing commences on Friday afternoon and will conclude on Sunday. A maximum of eight races are scheduled, with each team discarding her worst score after six races are completed.
